Patients are usually discharged at the end of the morning or in the early afternoon.
At discharge, the doctor on duty gives you a discharge letter for your GP (family doctor), which contains:
- a clinical summary of the patient's course of care
- the results of the tests and investigations carried out
- the treatments given during the hospital stay
- the treatment instructions to follow at home
- appointments already scheduled for further tests
- instructions for outpatient visits or future hospital admissions
